On to the next one. A few months following Gucci Mane’s announcement that severed Waka Flocka from his 1017 Brick Squad label, the “Sosa” rapper, Chief Keef, is looking to be a replacement.

Waka Flocka’s departure was soured by a nasty Twitter exchange in March, culminating in Flocka appearing on MTV’s RapFixLive with radio VJ Sway, nixing the possibility of ever doing business with Gucci Mane.

“It ain’t gonna never be no business, ever in life. No music or nothing,” he affirmed. “I don’t feel nothing he say out his mouth. It ain’t real.”

Chief Keef took to his Instagram Wednesday to post a photo of the 1017 Glo Gang. “#WhatTimeItIs?1017,” he captioned.

Gucci Mane sent out a tweet Wednesday afternoon to announce the union.

Keef is currently signed to Interscope Records via his own label Glory Boyz Entertainment. A new contract for Brick Squad should be drawn up soon.

Not to be confused with another acronym that purports Kanye West’s crew of artists (G.O.O.D. music), but ATL rapper T.I. has his own gang – Grand Hustle. Crème de la crème, homie.

Dropping their first mixtape, Get Dough or Die (G.D.O.D.), the 21 tracks feature a slew of artists now part of T.I.’s  southern crew – B.o.B, Travi$ Scott, Trae Tha Truth, Iggy Azalea, Young Dro, and more. Friends of T.I. – French Montana, Juicy J, Young Jeezy, Meek Mill, and Mystikal - assist on several songs.

It appears music mafias are popping up everywhere, where most hip-hop artists are affiliated with a music familia, be it YMCMB, MMG, Bad Boy, RocNation, etc. Hopefully, beefs will be scarce. It should be all love and making great hip-hop. Good music.

Mr. West will be in the building. Well, in NY for the season finale of SNL. Premiering May 18th, Kanye West will be the musical guest, along with actor Ben Affleck, as the 38th season comes to a close.

SNL confirmed via Twitter last month.

The last time Kanye hit the SNL stage was in October 2010, where he performed hits “Power” and “Runaway” featuring Pusha T, off his album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

No more Mountain Dew checks for rapper Lil Wayne. The soft drink brand, owned by PepsiCo, axed their contract with the YMCMB founder following controversial lyrics about civil rights figure, Emmitt Till.

PepsiCo released an official statement earlier this week concerning the issue.  ”We do not plan any additional work with Lil Wayne moving forward. His offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand.”

The lyric, ”beat the p—y up like Emmett Till,” refers to the beating and murder of the Mississippi teenager in 1955, after allegedly whistling at a white woman. Till’s family caught wind of the insensitive lyrics Lil Wayne spit, and sought an apology.

Almost  four months following the released track Weezy provided a formal apology, but it was leaked online before reaching the Till family.

“It has come to my attention that lyrics from my contribution to a fellow artist’s song has deeply offended your family. As a father myself, I cannot imagine the pain that your family has had to endure. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge your hurt, as well as the letter you sent me via your attorneys…I have tremendous respect for those who paved the way for the liberty and opportunities that African-Americans currently enjoy,” he wrote.

Airickca Gordon-Taylor, Executive Director of the Mamie Till Mobley Foundation, which honors both the memory of Emmett Till and his late mother, released a statement praising Mountain Dew for their decision to end their business relationship with Lil Wayne.

“This decision was monumental, we commend Mountain Dew for taking action towards better social responsibility, and now I finally feel that we can exhale and focus on our beloved Mamie Till Mobley’s charge… Let’s get on with the business of positive thinking and living.”

Mountain Dew recently had a few commercials, which featured Tyler the Creator, pulled after allegations that the commercials were “offensive” and “racist.”

Former wife of rapper Nas, singer Kelis is returning to music with a new album and a new single.

Her sixth studio album, titled “FOOD,” is already completed. She expressed her excitement on finishing her album, via Twitter.

Working with TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek as a producer, the “Milshake” singer is expected to release the album this September. The first track released from the album is “Jerk Ribs”.

Her last album, Flesh Tone, was released in 2010.
